There’s a difference. When you ask for someone’s attention, you direct them to something you wish for a comment on. An example.

“Hey, will you look at my website?”

Friend looks at website. “It’s good!”

“What did you think of the comic where I drew my head super giant and oozing blood from my gums?”

“I hated it!”

That’s how one asks. But… without direction, there’s no expectation for more. For my ex, I ended up having to do actual annotations and play-by-play reactions. It took well over an hour sometimes to do.
