i remember all of this happening. admittedly i cried a bit when i heard how she was found. i knew she was found. i knew her killer was dead. i remember the unfolding of the investigation.
i also remember anger. this was in the midst of the pandemic and blm. the amount of exposure gabby petito got enraged people trying to put spotlight on murders of poc and a white woman taking center stage.
the show closes with this. the people who mourn the disproportionate amount of attention the case had. her parents trying to enact change. her case forcing people to examine the way different cases are treated based on race. why can’t we always have this amount of attention on missing persons?
