Even just hatching will require leveling up by fighting monsters–the same monsters who’d love to eat him as a snack. But with the help of the mysterious voice in his head, he’s determined to grow into the most powerful creature in the world!
so i’ve been waiting around for this one to get officially translated for some time because back when i read it i was stuck around where he is trying to defend the village. i finally get to catch up manga wise!
firstly, i like the visual style. it has really strong black and whites with thick lines and sharp angles. sometimes it DOES get really cluttered to look at, but once you get used to the sort of art it has everything clicks. it DOES take a hot minute.
although i sorta classified this as a harem, it’s a rather dubious classification, so i stuck it under the subversion. he ain’t pervy and my #1 ship with him is black lizard. who is a black lizard.
i like watching him strive against the hand of fate. dude is trying to hard and doesn’t want to be a tragedy just out there walking around so he regularly tries to set people up for success and leave. that said, he’s so nice that it keeps backfiring.
the action scenes are where this is best and you can tell just how much the artist loves the source material. really enjoy it.

It is truly a fighting manga withevery day problems for… not every day things
illusia (dragon) still has no memory of his prior life
but he retains his human characteristics at least
dude is really being dealt a bad hand and it feels like some skills (just an idiot) are engineered just to.make fun of the poor guy
ball rabbit makes me laugh
a lot of self-sacrifice, i miss black lizard, and i am desperate to see more
a lot of blatant references to other, more popular monster isekai (kumo desu ga, nani ka? and reincarnated as a slime)
it is foremost a comedy with a guy who could have been edgy and ended up just being unfortunate
