Asahina Wakaba, a girl who is a bit clumsy and not good at socializing, gets bullied into asking out the school’s biggest, most despised, otaku, Haruto Iruma. However, this experience changes her pitch-black high school years into the ultimate young-love experience.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this series. I just sort of pick things based on if (a) they catch me right away or (b) they’re near the top of my to-read list alphabetically.
So! I picked this one out of curiosity. It looks like a shounen-type series with pretty girl hugging round boy and then I ended up falling into this hole with Wakaba as she struggles against her bullies. She ends up finding real happiness in a guy who learned to be unashamedly himself after his own difficult life left him feeling like he was wandering in the darkness with no one to turn to.
Except he did end up having people, and these people in turn became part of Wakaba’s support network.
The series is only three parts… if I had to summarize it, I would say, what if the pervert joke character was actually a really kind young man who is really considerate to others?
It’s actually quite cute and while it does get intense at times, I really like it and would recommend it for teen readers.
