DEEP SECRETS: CAN CALE TURN THE TIDE OF FATE?
When Kim Roksu mysteriously awakens inside an action-packed fantasy novel, he decides to make the most of it. Now living as the rich noble Cale Henituse, our protagonist collects flashy abilities and unexpected allies in his pursuit of a cushy life! After foiling a mad mage’s terrorist plot in the capital, he travels to a coastline of vicious whirlpools to find his next Ancient Power. There, he meets siblings from the Whale Tribe who are as beautiful as they are deadly. For ages, the whales have kept their sworn enemies at bay–the bloodthirsty mermaids–but an unknown power from the depths of the Dark Forest has made their foes stronger than ever. Will the mermaids, monsters, and magic of this vibrant fantasy world be enough to derail Cale’s ambitions of a luxurious, carefree future?
Yay! Yay! It’s time! My favorite little conman!
The book picks up EXACTLY where the first one drops off. Considering this was a web novel first, I’m not surprised— these aren’t standalone books, as it was written chapter by chapter into oblivion. It took me a second to get back into the groove before everything came back to me.
It wraps up the Plaza of Glory incident, which ends advantageously for Cale. He immediately secures a credit card from the crown prince that can buy only two things, no matter their value (“two pieces of bread or two mountains, it didn’t matter”).
After that, he meets whales, resolves their problems, meets the Queen of the Jungle, resolves her problems, and then he sits on a fat stack of cash unlike any other.
The baby black dragon finally gets a name as well. Honestly, I’m just a sucker for this.
