Dave the Diver

Pre-Jungle DLC.

DAVE THE DIVER is a casual, singleplayer adventure RPG featuring deep-sea exploration and fishing during the day and sushi restaurant management at night. Join Dave and his quirky friends as they seek to uncover the secrets of the mysterious Blue Hole.

I love Dave the Diver. I don’t think the trailer does it justice, dude.

I mean.

It’s a farming sim. It’s restaurant management. It’s a fighting game. It’s a solo adventure game. It’s short. It’s long. There’s DLC out the ass (and one that basically brings in a whole new storyline that just came out on my birthday!!! which I will review separately!!!) that brings in characters from reality and other franchises. Godzilla is here.

I love it so much, man. It’s so funny. At first it can feel a bit grindy but they accommodate the need to find ingredients by allowing you to do fish farming and growing seaweed (and eventually, farming!).

It significantly tapers down the need to fish and lets the player focus on whatever they like best, whether that’s following the story or doing restaurant management.

All the environments are stunning. I mean, look at this one off section where we get to dive during sunset!

And the MUSIC??? Bro.

You can go from this:

to this:

to even fuckin mxmtoon’s greatest hits:

Which, by the way, mxmtoon is a favorite of mine, and you can have her come and hold a concert for you and come perform every weekend if you like!

And every character is so fully there.

I love them so much, my guy!

You just end up loving everyone. It’s good-natured, it’s fun, the game has so much for anyone who is looking for a little bit of everything. There are minigames in the game! There are endless goals for you to follow even after the end game! You can play Dredge on special nights, where the hooded figures come and eat grotesque aberrations alongside regular customers! It’s great!

Welcome to the Menagerie.

Here is where M logs their media activity. Partly because Goodreads is forgettable and keeping physical logs is harder. Sometimes M writes a lot. Sometimes M doesn’t write enough. It doesn’t matter. This is just a for-fun little blog so that M can remember what they thought about whatever they watched or read or played or. Whatever.

What is M?

I read. Voraciously. I have subscriptions to those book things on digital retailers. I consume books at nearly all hours. The hours I don’t spend reading? I’m writing. I’m drawing. I have a problem. I have a problem in that I love to read things that are in the same vein repeatedly. Book journals don’t work and as much as I text my friends screenshots of book passages, it doesn’t scratch the itch. Now I’m going to be doing… tiny… tiny book reports.
