Menagerie:

please watch this anime
Born into a loving family, Femicia appears to have a bright future ahead of her. When she finally turns five, the time comes to go to the church to have her skills appraised. However, while she does receive a monster tamer skill, it turns out that Femicia has zero stars for that ability. To make matters worse, society considers those who have zero stars to be harbingers of misfortune; as a result, Femicia is shunned by everyone—including her family.
Soon enough, Femicia is chased out of her village and is constantly on the run. Fearing for her life, she decides to masquerade as a boy and change her name to Ivy. With a goal given to her by a fortune teller to reach the royal capital, Ivy meets and successfully tames a slime, starting an unlikely friendship that may provide a means to get the destiny she deserves.
I was out for another iyashikei and found Weakst Tamer. It’s. Wow. It isn’t what I thought it would be at all and I really admire it for doing things differently.
When I hear that it’s an isekai tensei where the protagonist is super weak, my assumption is the typical: she will somehow find a way to not be the Weakest and suddenly, inexplicably, become the Strongest. Her previous life will be her constantly consulting and using her modern Japanese knowledge to hold herself humbly superior to her brethren.

(i tried to embed the op here but it would not let me) (weep)
She remains weak, but her weakness does not detract from her other abilities. It gives her hometown reason to look down on her and treat her coldly, for which she is forced to abandon the town. Her past life is like an occasional spirit making a comment only to her, where even the audience cannot hear. It does come with inexplicable knowledge at times, but she is living fully in the present. Her power does not grow, but her heart becomes stronger.
That heart is what gives her real power, earning her friendship with another extremely weak creature who grows beside her. She meets another who feels it owes her and so it takes care of her on the road, helping her hunt, and defending her.
The theme of the show is learning how to recover and find oneself after feeling like they’ve lost everything. Hell! I cried when I first heard the ending:
Weakness, or a numbered/measured ability is not what makes a person. Their ability to be true to themselves, to help others and accept such help, is. It’s heartwarming, man. It’s a legitimately good show where you settle in and just… wanna feed Ivy some soup.
