Since their days as students, Tsukasa Jinguuji has had incredible luck with women due to his good looks; Hinata Tachibana has had almost none, overshadowed by Jinguuji’s brilliance. However, while Jinguuji has never shown interest in the opposite sex, Tachibana is always desperate for a girlfriend. Despite their polar differences, they continue to be best friends even in their thirties as salarymen.

One night, the two are returning home from a mixer where Jinguuji was the center of attention as usual. In his drunken rambles, a frustrated Tachibana inadvertently wishes to become a beautiful girl with irresistible charm. As if the heavens were listening, a goddess suddenly shows herself before Jinguuji and Tachibana, transporting them to another world to defeat the Demon Lord and simultaneously granting Tachibana’s desire.

Tachibana—now in the body of an impossibly perfect woman—has become so attractive that even Jinguuji is captivated. Moreover, Tachibana grows aware of Jinguuji’s stunning appearance, finally understanding his popularity. Before they fall in love with each other, the duo must complete their mission or risk remaining prisoners to their infatuations forever.

OKAY I ADMIT IT I LOVE THE MANGA AND WHEN I SAW IT IS NOW AN ANIME I JUST COULD NOT RESIST EVEN IF IT WAS EMBARRASSING TO WATCH

Okay, with that out of the way, we barreledthrough the first season, thanks to my best friend’s endless tolerance for my begging her to watch things. She says she thinks it’s funny, but what if she’s just tolerating this VERY anime anime???

Like, okay. Dude, don’t watch this around anyone who isn’t experienced in anime.

I really am here to ship Jinguuji and Tachibana to the ends of the earth. I love them together. It’s where we get sunshine and grumpy together but in the stupidest possible combination, both of whom are incredibly confused by their mutual attraction and wondering how much of it is due to the gender swap and how much of it is due to just being fucking gay.

Like, is it gay to love your best friend of twenty years, who is a 32-year-old man inside the body of a loli-type woman he described in a drunken haze and then forcibly slime-morphed into? Is is gay to love your best friend who you accidentally summoned as your most powerful weapon because deep down you believe he can do anything and you’ve always admired him and the way he takes care of you, to the point where he refuses all female companionship in order to be with you? Huh??? HUH??? IS IT???????????

Also, it’s really fun for people who need a chill watch and like gag comedies. They subvert the romance genre pretty well and successfully make it into one of the funniest “will they/won’t they/just fucking do it already”s. I’m looking forward to the stuff later on where they meet another gender-switched person who ABSOLUTELY is gay.

Welcome to the Menagerie.

Here is where M logs their media activity. Partly because Goodreads is forgettable and keeping physical logs is harder. Sometimes M writes a lot. Sometimes M doesn’t write enough. It doesn’t matter. This is just a for-fun little blog so that M can remember what they thought about whatever they watched or read or played or. Whatever.

What is M?

I read. Voraciously. I have subscriptions to those book things on digital retailers. I consume books at nearly all hours. The hours I don’t spend reading? I’m writing. I’m drawing. I have a problem. I have a problem in that I love to read things that are in the same vein repeatedly. Book journals don’t work and as much as I text my friends screenshots of book passages, it doesn’t scratch the itch. Now I’m going to be doing… tiny… tiny book reports.
