ISEKAI’D BY:
God’s Intervention!

Amami is a kind doctor who always puts other people first. Struck by lightning and knocked unconscious, he woke up to find himself in a parallel world peopled by beast folk, with a chimera stalking around to boot! How will Amami fare as a doctor teleported to a strange world where technology is virtually nonexistent, and medicine is treated like magic? Find out in this out-of-this-world medical fantasy penned by a practicing physician and drawn by a rising new artist!

ISEKAI DOCTOR ended up being a really fucking good time. I am aghast that I only have 11 volumes to read.
Firstly: the art. Oh my god, the art. It’s a richly detailed style that makes enormous use of screen tones to bring beauty and realism to every panel. The medical panels are incredible, lending a sense of realism to a fantasy world and demonstrating a thorough understanding of the process of each procedure.
Speaking of? Yeah, I can believe that there truly is experience and understanding for every single procedure and piece of history referenced in the series. Not just because of the manga, mind you, but because there are ENORMOUS chunks where explanations are given in paragraph form that explain everything from processing corn to the effect of judeo christianity on medicine. You could nearly follow the step by step surgeries to do your own (do not do this).
The series is light hearted and so very dramatic and serious at the same time. There’s some deep lore and world building at work that makes a reader deeply care about the world dynamics, and nothing is really how one expects.
