time passes and yet i’m the same
. ݁₊ ⊹ .

as you can see we made a nice jump in the amount of books i have read (from 461 to 477), however the percentage has DROPPED. i currently am at 830 books physically owned! wow!
it’s partly due to my integrating reading into my daily routine to figure out what does/doesn’t work for me. instead of watching tv over breakfast or lunch, i crack open a book. i try to read during those two periods until the book sucks me in until i’m done.
unfortunately i am also borrowing a lot from the library (i just came back with six more books…) so this number is… wibbling. we shall see.

(making this addition mid-January)
once again I am reminded of the supremacy of library sales. this january we had a library sale and book fair on the same day— i save up for a few weeks jic and then exponentially add to my collection. this time i got a lot that i’ve read before but no longer possessed (a series of unfortunate events! tamora pierce books! the first levin thumps!) and i sprang for a few reference books and books i’ve heard of, because it’s the library sale and i know i’m walking out with a HUGE amount for comparatively very little.
the book fair was books, yes, and i’ve bought from some tables before (one table i almost cleared out before at another book fair) and learned to avoid others (the zombie splatterpunk sex books are not my jam, and neither are the come to christ books). i ended up buying books for cover price from the stalls representing some indie stories in the state— i got two books that have been on my list and karen got one showing medieval cats. there were other books i wanted but at the book fair we follow the Book Shopping Rules (1. must have heard of it and 2. if i have not read it, i must have a compelling reason to buy it), plus i wanted to keep to my budget of $150. so i got 2 books and there weren’t any stalls calling to me (one stall was just tarot books…) so we left promptly.
i had never been in that mall before, and it reminded me of prince rupert’s office mall. it was nostalgic, but crowded, and nothing tempted us further.
