time to consider what the hell i’m doing here! a bit of spring cleaning for the mind!

what did i like this year for the blog?
- i liked my sidebar count going up, and i liked documenting truck-kun. i also liked making my slime pen!
- i liked seeing all the books i’ve read in one place
- it really did help my memory about certain pieces of media i wanted to revisit
- i HAVE checked this blog to see if i’ve ever read or seen something (the answer was yes)
- superior to goodreads in every way.
- it motivates me to read books and watch movies and play games, which i can forget to do because i forget to relax
- i find i like blogging and getting these thoughts out
what did i dislike this year for the blog?
- sometimes it felt like i wanted to avoid it because I read so much manga.
- a solution: perhaps i do not do writeups when i put down a lot. shrink down the manga sections so it has more in it to display.
- i’m not married to the layout
- this we can putz with for a while. my main love is my sidebar. keep the sidebar.
- sometimes going thru tropes felt like a chore when i had been avoiding a review too long
- can i cut down tropes? any of them with singles that i have made? can i expand the trope section so it’s less like scrolling for twenty years?

i only read one of my books during this time because i have started to go to the library again. however, because i am severely limiting how much i am to borrow, i AM reading more instead of just letting the books languish. i’m walking a fine line here.
i am considering going through my books and rereading some as well, so I don’t predict this will change quickly even if I am reading my own books. I want to finish stamping books and perhaps come up with a system of writing in the books, but that isn’t really relevant to the site itself.

re: the isekai types. I’m thinking about it again because i stepped into a revenge isekai after reading some redo and relax isekai.
re: updating the layout. i think i’ll start changing it up this month and see how it feels. it’ll be very nice to do. i like changing things.
re: book count at 59 vs the wanted 100 books. it seemed feasible at my old job until things went completely haywire. i think i am happy with the amount i HAVE read.
re: goodreads. i have given up on goodreads. as much work as i complain about doing here, somehow goodreads feels even MORE laborious just because of how long it takes to do certain things (like even adding a date). it DID fudge my expectations of myself: since i decided to separate manga and books, my novel reading count is way lower than i had thought. if you actually add up all the volumes i read this year we’d be nearly hitting 400 as of writing and I think that’s more than okay. i need to adjust my expectations for next year though. i WILL probably make a trophy section for myself. for funsies.

well that’s that for the beginning of december. look for some changes to come! unless you’re seeing them right now. c’est la vie.
