Columbo is a friendly, verbose, disheveled-looking police detective who is consistently underestimated by his suspects. Despite his unprepossessing appearance and apparent absentmindedness, he shrewdly solves all of his cases and secures all evidence needed for indictment. His formidable eye for detail and meticulously dedicated approach often become clear to the killer only late in the storyline.
my guys i have decided i love 60s/70s cinematography. between this and star trek i admire the lighting, the framing, the techniques, the color palettes! watching entertainment from this era is fascinating as well because it brings the era to me. it makes it real. less like the vintage curiosity that sepia photos and a particular architectural style brings.
i only watched the first episode so far, after tumblr memeing it for a good long time. the first episode is a movie length one, and I’m FASCINATED by columbo himself. his style reminds me of detective kinderman (which came after!). the bumbling detective seemingly full of non sequiters. friendly and disarming. intelligent on the inside but he’s kinda doofy.
