The Red Ranger, Tougo Asagaki, finds himself transported to another world in the middle of a fierce battle against forces of evil. Upon arriving, he quickly makes a name for himself as an adventurer and takes on a job from a young mage named Yihdra Arvoln. With his eccentric powers and frenzied personality, Tougo blazes through the mission with her.

After the quest, Tougo and Yihdra begin adventuring together with their respective goals. Tougo strives to help as many as possible in the new world and find a way back home, while Yihdra desires to redeem her family lineage of mages and make magic accessible to everyone. Along their journey, the duo discover the limitations yet endless potential of the bonds they forge as they overcome adversities to achieve their aspirations.

My train of thought when beginning the series: Haha sentai parody in a fantasy world!

My train of thought by the end of the series: TOUGOOOOOOOOOOOOOO YOUR BONDS

I haven’t been huge on sentai shows because I find them really corny, but when it’s played as comedy I somehow end up taking it seriously.

It’s a very fun show that leans into comedy from both the fantasy isekai and sentai realms it takes from. I thought it would spiral into harem jokes but instead they gather a majority female sentai force (unusual!) that still has all the trappings of a fun kid’s shounen while being great for people who like both genres.

Welcome to the Menagerie.

Here is where M logs their media activity. Partly because Goodreads is forgettable and keeping physical logs is harder. Sometimes M writes a lot. Sometimes M doesn’t write enough. It doesn’t matter. This is just a for-fun little blog so that M can remember what they thought about whatever they watched or read or played or. Whatever.

What is M?

I read. Voraciously. I have subscriptions to those book things on digital retailers. I consume books at nearly all hours. The hours I don’t spend reading? I’m writing. I’m drawing. I have a problem. I have a problem in that I love to read things that are in the same vein repeatedly. Book journals don’t work and as much as I text my friends screenshots of book passages, it doesn’t scratch the itch. Now I’m going to be doing… tiny… tiny book reports.
