A surprising dark horse for a friend of mine, and an interesting read for me.
It hits the slasher genre hard from such a weird perspective. There’s like. Bits of it I’m like ???? about, absolutely fuckin knackered over.
It’s a fun read, nonsensical at times, but in the way that all slasher movies are. It is a love letter to old horror flicks, back when we had a man in a mask and the inability to die. We watch as this poor kid tries his damnedest to cope and fails spectacularly, nearly costing him his life in the process.
And then things go bad.
I wish terribly that things could have ended better. Tolly was really loved and really loved, but damn, things were tough for him. Especially when he started the serial killer thing. All he could do was be a revenge-chasing slasher who couldn’t pick up a knife quietly if he wanted to.
That aside— this one I’ll be picking up for the permanent collection. It’s a quick read, not very long at all, and I want to read it with the knowledge of the end I have now.
