Fel (Fenrir, may as well be a minor deity) and Sui (Slime)

How i feel about the series as a whole

Listen, I’ve read some of the novels, I’ve read the manga, and now I am watching the anime. Bro, the anime is delectable.

Which is a great descriptor, being a food anime.

Basically, this is two gay dads raising children while going on a foodie world tour. Our hero gets summoned by accident and asks if he could fuck off. They let him go, seeing as they don’t know what to make of his special skills— which is just a cheat power where he can open a window to do some online shopping.

Which he can use his actual money to pay for things in the shopping window. IE, the copper/silver/gold etc gets converted into digital cash. For real world items! Yeah, product placement is strong in the anime, but honestly in this case I can’t find fault in it. It’s a cooking anime talking about how great Japanese convenience ingredients are where he literally does online shopping. He literally says at some point, “We have to thank the Japanese food industry for that.” I say get that bread, man, we gotta keep up the budget somehow.

And they NEED this budget. Someone on YouTube has kindly compiled the cooking sequences in this anime, which is AWESOME. I also get to learn new recipes by watching. The animation is just beautiful, detailed, and lovingly rendered. It’s exactly what I was hoping for in the anime.

I like how the author has thought of a lot of those things that live in the back of my head when shown isekai cheat powers like this. Where does the trash go? SOLVED. Isn’t this going to disrupt the economy? PARTLY solved. If this character is so fucking powerful, why isn’t it causing more issues? THREATS.

Circling back around to the gays dads raising their adopted child thing— Fel and Mukhoda behave like a married couple. Period. Mukhoda’s cooking brings in all his companions, but Fel forms a lifetime contract in order to indulge in the food he makes. Both of them raise Sui. Come ON.

Anyway, I’m eager to see a season two. This is going to be fucking great. And maybe I’ll reread the manga and light novel in the interim!

This has one of my favorite ending animations, which summarizes season 1 quite well:

Plus I really like the art style! It’s so cute and expressive!

Welcome to the Menagerie.

Here is where M logs their media activity. Partly because Goodreads is forgettable and keeping physical logs is harder. Sometimes M writes a lot. Sometimes M doesn’t write enough. It doesn’t matter. This is just a for-fun little blog so that M can remember what they thought about whatever they watched or read or played or. Whatever.

What is M?

I read. Voraciously. I have subscriptions to those book things on digital retailers. I consume books at nearly all hours. The hours I don’t spend reading? I’m writing. I’m drawing. I have a problem. I have a problem in that I love to read things that are in the same vein repeatedly. Book journals don’t work and as much as I text my friends screenshots of book passages, it doesn’t scratch the itch. Now I’m going to be doing… tiny… tiny book reports.
