bro it’s absolutely insane that i went up 9 books read and went down 0.1% for percentage read. ignore that my unread books went up by 9 also.
i didn’t do a lot of reading this month, but i certainly acquired more books… i was mostly held in place by one book that i kept carving at very slowly, so hopefully that changes now that i am done with it.

this year i got a variety instead of focusing on manga! i also let myself take some risks with some books so fingers crossed.
i am especially excited about the chuck tingle and the t. kingfisher. i haven’t read these books yet but i know i love the authors already so we’re solid.
i want to get into the “dark romance” genre so i got a few leaning in that direction. when i picked up “haunting adeline”, saying, “i’ve heard this is good”, karen nodded and said “when i heard about it it was more like, if you read this you’re fucked up”. so i have high expectations.
i forgot to mark lady devil but i LOVE that webtoon. if i dare, i would call it “dark romance”. it’s psuedo-incestuous tragedy, where a pair can’t be happy unless they hurt one another, dominate one another, control one another, but they crave the happiness that being open to their own love will give them. it is more accurate to medieval society than a lot of webtoons are, going further than just the appearance of kings and kingdoms.
i’m thinking about lady devil again very much so rather you should read that review.
anyway all the books i know of i love already, and I’m especially excited to reread Kuro. I was actually working on saving all the pages before 🦇went down and so I’m relieved that it’s been licensed and published so I have a copy I didn’t have to assemble myself.

right now i want to focus more on pursuing my hobbies so i’m trying to watch more and knit more and draw more. i don’t know how that will affect my output here.
i am very interested in crushing a whole bunch of books this month since i got some really short ones on top of the big fat ones i gotta read, so. we’ll see?
i do feel a sense of accomplishment when i update this blog so there’s no worry it’ll go away, anyway. plus it has actually lived up to its purpose (reminding me wtf i consumed and how i felt about it).
i do kind of worry that the footprint of this site is getting a bit too big compared to my other sites. it worries me a lot actually since i DID run out of disk space at the beginning of the year because of the site being backed up and effectively doubling in size since the backup was a 1:1 mirror for some reason. i have 50gbs, bro, and we filled it. now we’re down at about 25 but that was fucking insane.
i don’t currently have the means to self-host yet (a far flung future plan that counts on me being able to afford building a home lab with a fatass NAS) but it would be awesome if I could figure it out because rn I run off of 3 external HDs that house books, movies, and then my general shit. it’s like a bootleg server that doesn’t have even half the capability. it would be cheaper in the long run to build a home lab, too… man.
