First off, here’s how we are on the new year’s to-do list:
- Add disability rep to the meta
- Fix whatever the FUCK I’m doing with all these damn boxes. It’s getting annoying.
- Make a standard template for different categories
- Do SOMETHING about how itty-bitty featured images can be
- Clear out my backlog
- Add a page for recommended reading
- Add a page about webcomics
- Zine library additions
- Focus on media I own instead of the library, where I routinely borrow too many books and then go a little bit insane trying to read them in time when I have a physical library that is maybe 30-40% read and a digital library spanning thousands
Nice job, me. Thanks, me. I have the zine section prepped, but I haven’t put it on the main page yet because I haven’t really come up with a pleasing way to arrange the default page layout. Webcomics will have to come with my personal web pruning— I got a lot of comics to pull and I haven’t gotten around to it yet in the midst of all the other shit on my list.
That said, we’re doing good on the physical media front. Here’s a handy chart:

As of the initial writing of this, I own 662 books, disregarding doubles. I do have like… four copies of Pride and Prejudice, and at least three of White Fang. That’s on purpose.
I also find myself in the unique position where I have already read most of the books on my shelves, due in part to the policy of only buying what I’ve read or heard of. A chunk of the “no” section is actually field guides.
(Maybe I should consider adding genre to the data? Perhaps over the weekend.)
In any case, I’ve been doing fairly well keeping up, and we’ve got a solid start to the year with at least 15 books finished out of the 200. I’ve split the difference in the progress bar displayed on yonder sidebar— 100 light novels, 100 books. I may add another bar for comics completed in the year, because that typically makes my yearly count burst.
So here’s the upcoming to-do:
- Add a page for recommended reading
- I should consider why I want this.
- Add a page about webcomics
- Zine library additions
- An “other” category for miscellaneous media? Or just add podcasts to the category list.
- Prune the genres and arrange the collections to make sense.
- Remove the current trope guide, to be replaced by the clickable tropes.
- Finish adding the trope descriptions to each archive page.
- Can I add pictures to the archive pages, or will I have to make unique pages for the ones where I want to add pictures?
- Consider adding a chart for the digital media I own.
- Contemplate: Star Trek. Do I do it by season or by episode?
That’s a sizeable enough list for me. This isn’t a chore yet, and I like looking at what I got. Ain’t barely no one looking so I get to do whatever the fuck I want. Yeehaw
